The AKC Canine Health Foundation and Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) have collaborated to provide a downloadable resource which reviews the basic principles necessary to practically and thoughtfully apply genetic test results to the care of all dogs, including breeding stock. The types of genetic tests currently in use, their application in breeding programs, and their limitations are discussed, as well as potential negative effects of the misuse of test results in both pet and breeding dogs.

In honor of our 25th anniversary, all members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors have generously agreed to match donations received from new or lapsed donors* in support of the CHF Endowment Fund, up to a cumulative total of $155,000.
After careful consideration, the AKC Canine Health Foundation has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Canines & Cocktails Gala that was scheduled to be held in Orlando, Florida on December 10. In making this decision, we considered the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic may have on our guests and the impact of potential travel restrictions to and from the event.
